The Role

We are seeking a hands-on, detailed-oriented, and quality-minded VP Engineering to lead our team of software engineers, technical project managers, and QA engineers to architect, develop, operate, and scale our SaaS offerings.  The VP Engineering will report to our Chief Product Officer to provide technology vision and execute product roadmap to drive the growth of our business.

Full-time Location: Remote in select states or Venice, CA in the heart of an inspiring and eclectic artist community

What You’ll Do

  • Provide technical guidance to and oversee the work of a team of frontend engineers, backend engineers, technical project managers, and QA engineers to ensure that work products meet technical requirements and quality standards, and follow adopted software architecture, design patterns, and coding conventions.
  • Lead software architecture and technical design to translate business requirements into SaaS that are usable, reliable, scalable, and secure.
  • Partner with product owners in agile software development process to drive software development in way that is responsive to business demands and team capacity.
  • Communicate with internal and external parties about the functionalities, design, architecture, values, and vision of the SaaS solution.
  • Budget and manage spending on software development and technology operations.
  • Keep on top of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive product roadmap and technology vision.

You have

  • 10+ years of experience leading teams in agile (scrum) software development process
  • Strong understanding of a broad range of software technologies and platforms, including most of the following stack:
  • Frontend: React, React Native, React Redux
  • Backend and API: Ruby on Rails, Python, Django, PHP, Postman  
  • Data and Logging: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redshift, Elastic, Redis, Filebeat, Logstash, AWS Glue, Amazon Athena, Amazon Kenesis 
  • Infrastructure: Amazon Web Services
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills
  • Experience in and value strong partnership with product to deliver desired business results
  • Lead teams of a variety of sizes, ideally having scaled an engineering org through multiple years of growth
  • A passion for developing talent
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
