Will it be safe to shop in-store by Black Friday 2020 (Friday, November 27th)? No one knows for certain – but many major retailers are playing it safe. Not only will big box stores like Macy’s, JCPenney, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Target not be open on Thanksgiving Day for the first time in years, but they’re also opening up Black Friday-level deals early, and keeping them going longer.

Representatives from Target, Best Buy and Home Depot said their Black Friday deals will begin in early November (and, in Target’s case, in October) and last through much of December. Why? To minimize crowds and encourage socially distant and online shopping.
